Unit 1

My first project was to make a stamp that I could use to indent my clay with a design. Having switched into this class later than most from my Spanish class, I was really happy with the final product, though, looking back, I wish I had spent more time smoothing the piece and making the corners more sharp.
Plan & Follow-through:
1. Wedge a little bit of clay
2. Choose a shape to stamp on
3. Flatten a rolled out piece, then carve in the shape
4. Done!
Plan & Follow-through:
1. Wedge clay
2. Use some kind of Mayan/Aztec
sculpture as a reference
3. Use strong, sharp features
4. Carve out the back until it is
no thicker than my thumb
5. Add unique final touches!

Plan & Follow-through:
1. Make a small plate by using a slump mold
2. Let it dry out
3. Underglaze the piece and fire it
4. Done!

My third project was to make a small to midsize underglaze piece, but I had been really uninspired while making it, and so I rushed. In the future, I definetly don't want to rush. I didn't have any idea for how to glaze it, and I should've waited until I had an idea instead of just trying to finish it up.
My second project in this class was a face; something loosely humanoid, though able to be mythical. I was fairly happy with the outcome- though, when fired and turned into bisque ware, it was obvious that I hadn't smoothed the piece enough before it was fired, and was very rough and textured. If I were to attempt it again, I would spend more time on smoothing the piece.
